"Monster Truck Weekend" was recorded live (with the exception of vocals) in one afternoon in an unnamed studio in Chicago in June 2009 by John Hachtel. The album was somewhat rushed due to rapidly emerging family obligations (Heather was 6 months pregnant at the time!), but reflects a similar energy to a live Regrets show from the time.

The album was shelved, but not forgotten during a 3 year hiatus. It was finally released by Loserheart Records in anticipation of The Regrets reunion show at the 2012 Brewed Roots festival in Canton, Ohio.
